Castle Project

Brian never knew that reading our granddaughter Destiny the story about Rapunzel  would have such a big affect on our yard!  After she heard the story about Rapunzel and the tower she lived in, Destiny told Brian that all she needed in the play area was a tower like Rapunzel’s tower.  Brian and I had discussed that the play area needed some changing, but I never imagined it would be so drastic.  This spring Brian saw some metal racks that he could get for free.  He and Lance brought them home using the truck and trailer.  In April, he started putting the structure together to look like a tower.  Now, 16 sheets of plywood, 3 sheets of siding, 12 gallons of primer, 9 gallons of paint, 6 sets of picket fences, and too many hours to count a castle tower now stands in our yard!  Rapunzel is looking out the window over the window box filled with pansies!  We owe many thanks to everyone that helped us with this monumental challenge. You can see them in the pictures of progress!

It is not the best picture, but here is what the play area looked like in August of 2006

The only written plan for the castle were made by Hailey and Dakota.  This board is inside the tower.  No, we do not plan to paint over or alter the written plan in any way!
